There is no “one price fits all” pricing plan for removal of groundhogs. Every situation is different and the cost will be individualized depending on the project. Trapping and removing a groundhog can be a simple affair for an individual groundhog. This will require a trap set-up visit and one or more return visits. If travel isn’t excessive, this can cost as little as $140. The number of return visits depend on conditions at the trapping site like the number of groundhogs present and difficulty of set up. These factors increase the cost of trapping.

Burrows that are not under buildings cannot be screened or blocked. Groundhogs will simply dig around obstructions that are placed in their burrows. The good news is that the Wildlife Company developed a new technique in 2017 that greatly reduces the odds that a burrow will be reused. Neutralizing the burrow eliminates the safety and convenience of a quick dive into a burrow and greatly reduces the chance that other groundhogs will return. It also reduces future burrowing in your area by moving the groundhog’s zone of influence off the property. 2017 saw no call backs from customers where this technique was used. In situations where this technique can be employed, it adds relatively little to project cost. The average in 2017 was about $75. This is a relatively small cost compared to the cost of repeated visits to the property to remove groundhogs.

If the groundhog has moved under a building or a deck, then screening around the building is necessary. The cost of screening depends on how many linear feet of screening must be installed and the number of obstructions that must be screened. An average deck cost is about $500. Screening can be installed by trenching or with a special product that is pounded into the ground. The “pound in” option is a good option in areas where trenching would destroy landscaping. Prices of the two techniques are comparable. A quote is always given before work is started.
